Telangana student shot dead at Kansas City, USTelangana Student, identified as Sharath Koppu was shot dead after some unknown men opened fire inside a restaurant in Kansas City in Missouri, United States (US). The Indian-origin 26-year-old student, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

This incident took place on Friday evening around 7 p.m. local time. Sharath Koppu’s family stays in Ameerpet in the city. He was studying in University of Missouri, Kansas City, was critically injured when the man fired at him at J’s Fish and Chicken Market located at 5412 Prospect Ave in the city. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. His friends informed his family over phone on Saturday.

The police said Sharath Kappu was working at the restaurant when was shot. They found him lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the killer, who managed to escape, and the motive behind the killing and other details were not known. The police released a  video of the suspected shooter, who is seen in a brown and white striped shirt, and tweeted, “Looking for this suspect in the robbery & murder of 25-y.o. Sharath Kopuu at 5412 Prospect last night. Sharath was from India and is a student at UMKC. $10,000 reward for info leading to charges in this (& every KCMO murder).”

According to the latest report, this incident is being treated as an attempt to robbery. The Kansas City Police published visuals of the suspect and have declared $10,000 reward for any information about him.

Sharath Koppu’s cousin Sandeep Vemulakonda said,  “Sharath Koppu moved to the USA in January this year, after he received a full scholarship to study at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Last night, we got to know that he was brutally killed by gunshots fired by unknown people.”

Sharath Koppu’s family was informed on Saturday about this incident and they have contacted Telangana’s NRI minister KT Rama Rao, seeking help in getting the body back.
