The social media plays very important role in our life.   Recently an independent media outlet ran a sting operation exposing over 30 prominent celebrities from the entertainment industry who agreed to generate posts supporting political parties, in lieu of money. The list includes shockingly familiar names such as singers Abhijit Bhattacharya, Kailash Kher, Baba Sehgal, Telugu Villain Sonu Sood, Saaho stars- Jackie Shroff, Evelyn Sharma, Bollywood actors Tisca Chopra, Shakti Kapoor, Koena Mitra, Rohit Roy, Minissha Lamba, Rajpal Yadav, Shreyas Talpade, and TV actors Deepshikha Nagpal, Aman Varma, Krushna Abhishek.

In the released video, Sonu Sood is heard saying, “Ye hum log karte hain, Hum South kee picturein karte hain. Main abhi picture karke aaya hoon wo usmein pahunch jaata hai humari mutual ek understanding hai.” The video is going viral on social media. In an official statement, Sonu said, “What was actually discussed has been wrongly reproduced and projected. This is a clear case of sabotage.”

Sonu Sood further added, “ The editing has been tampered with and only certain elements of the conversation have been used.”

Sonu Sood added, “In the video too, I had clearly stated that I won’t demean any party or promote anything which is not right or not true.”

Telugu Villain Sonu Sood has 1.15 million followers on Twitter.

The celebrities were caught on camera accepting the cash-for-tweet offer during a sting operation conducted by media portal over a period of 3-4 months last year. Now the media portal has released the video of sting operation in a video documentary titled ‘Operation Karaoke’, in which actors, dancers, singers and models were caught accepting the offer for promoting political parties through hidden cameras. Vidya Balan, Raza Murad, Arshad Warsi and TV actor Saumya Tandon were the only ones who refused the offer. They were offered Rs 2 lakh to Rs 20 lakh per message according to their brand value. These celebraties agreed to promote the party, any which was proposed to them, to create a favourable environment before the 2019 general elections.

Hot babe Sunny Leone, who was also seen in the video, agreeing to promote the BJP, issued a disclaimer on Twitter and rubbished the news of promoting a political party.
