The matter of Nandi Awards in Tollywood does not seem to come to a conclusion. ‘Nandi Award’ is an award that is highly respected by the workers of 24 crafts in the film industry. As such, the two Telugu state governments have stopped giving this award since 2017. Since then, the celebrities of the film industry have been questioning the two governments about it, but to no avail. While the Telangana government is saying that they will hold a discussion on those awards soon, the AP government is saying that they cannot give Nandi awards now.
As this matter did not come to any conclusion, Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) President Pratani Ramakrishna Goud came forward saying that he will present the Nandi Awards at his own expense in the name of TFCC Nandi Awards. Along with Tollywood, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films from the South industry will also be given these awards. A date has also been fixed for the awards ceremony to be held on August 12 at the World Trade Center in Dubai. But that date has now been postponed to September 24. The Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce and the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce have expressed objection to the awards.
It was stated that the authority over the ‘Nandi Award’ patent is only with the joint Andhra Pradesh Governments and the award cannot be used by other private individuals or private organizations.
