Plus Points:

· Performance

· Vijay

· Songs

· Action

Minus Points:

· Narration

· Predictable story

Performance: Vijay is in terrific form, exchanging comic counters with Yogi and making self-referential punches. He gives his career best performance which is truly award winning. Helooks super handsome. Rashmika Mandanna fits her role perfectly. Not only does she look gorgeous but performance wise too, she has done a superb job. Seasoned actor, Prakash Raj brings a lot of depth to the film with his terrific supporting act. Jayasudha is fine in her role. The rest of the cast, too justify with their roles.

Technical: The story of Varisu is predictable. The familiay moments, especially scenes between Vijay and Jayasudha ( plays the mother) work somewhat in an otherwise largely predictable film. The movie does manage to get right is deliver exactly what the trailer promised. Vamsi Padipally manages the balance with the mass moments that have both comedy and heroism in equal measure. Varisu is woke enough to acknowledge that relatives can be toxic. Karthik Palani’s cinematography is superb, Thaman’ BGM also highlighted. The editing is ok. The production values of superb.

Analysis: Varisu is a family drama against backdrop of a cutthroat corporate world. Coming to the work of director Vamsi Paidipally he manages to weave a fairly engaging film on misunderstood sons and fathers, jealous rivals, warring brothers, worried mother, romance, a peppy songs and heavy-duty heroic moments. And Thalapathy Vijay elevates ordinary moments into entertaining episodes.
