Billed as a geopolitical drama, Laabam is one of the much awaited movie of Kollywood in which Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan are working together. Apart from them, the film also has Sai Dhanshika, Kalaiyarasan, Prithivi Rajan, Ramesh Thilak, Danial Anne Pope, Nithish Veera and Jai Varman in the crucial roles. Today evening the makers of Laabam announced that the movie will be released on 9th September in the theaters.
The song titled Yaamili Yaamiliyaa was released as a tribute to the film’s director, SP Jhananathan, who passed away earlier this year. Laabam was National Award-winning filmmaker SP Jhananathan’s second film with Vijay Sethupathi after Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai which was released in 2015.
The movie was bombed at the box office, despite having to other heroes – Arya and Shaam, as part of the cast. The director fell unconscious at his residence in Chennai in the month of March this year. After he was rushed to hospital, the doctors declared that he had blood clots in his brain. On 13th March, he died of cardiac arrest.
On the otherside, Shruti Haasan will be seen playing the female lead in Prabhas starrer action drama Salaar which is being directed by Prashanth Neel of KGF fame.
