Supreme Court recently conducted a hearing on the petition filed by the victims of the Manipur viral video. In this context, the court expressed impatience with the behavior of the police.
The Supreme Court on Monday conducted a hearing regarding the case of two women being paraded n…ed in Manipur. The people expressed extreme intolerance towards the police system.
“Manipur’s viral video case should not be underestimated by saying that it is happening everywhere. It is a very bad and bad incident. Instead of thinking that the whole country is like this, what can we do in the case of Manipur ? If we save, save all the girls, or save none? Do you mean that?” Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice DY Chandrachud commented.
The incident was of 4th May and the zero FIR was registered only on 18th May. Why did the police take 14 days to register the FIR? What was the police doing from the 4th of May till 18th of May?”, asked Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice DY Chandrachud.
Supreme Court posed some serious questions to the Union and the Manipur government over the ethnic violence in the state.
Violent incidents have been continuing in Manipur since 3rd May. The incident took place on May 4 when two Kuki women were stripped n..ed and paraded.
