14-day remand for TDP senior leader Prathipati son

Vijayawada police have arrested Sarath, the son of TDP senior leader and former minister Prathipati in the case of defrauding the government treasury with bogus bills. The court remanded him for 14 days.

Vijayawada police arrested the son of former minister Prathipati Pullarao in the case of obtaining input tax credit of crores of rupees by creating bogus bills for purchasing material related to road construction works in the name of benami companies.

Avexa Corporation Pvt Ltd was found to have created bogus bills for purchase of road construction material in Delhi in the name of benami companies without constructing roads in connection with road construction works under CRDA in Amaravati during the years 2017 and 2022. DGGI investigation found that crores of rupees have been received from the government as input tax credit with these bills.

After DGGI sent the report to Andhra Pradesh State Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, APSDRI filed a complaint with Vijayawada Machavaram police based on the report.

Police say that Rs 66.03 crore of public money has been diverted in the name of infrastructure contracts in the capital. The police claimed that funds were looted by submitting bogus invoices in the name of contracts and sub-contracts of Avexa Corporation Private Limited, which belongs to the family of TDP leader Prathipati. Funds were diverted through shell companies.
