The Nightingale of Bollywood Lata Mangeshkar’s demise has left everyone in a deep despair. She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday morning. She was cremated with full state honours at Shivaji park at Dadar in Mumbai. Many political leaders and celebrities have expressed condolences towards her death and also present at her funeral.
Ajit Pawar, the Deputy CM, Sharad Pawar, the NCP Chief, Raj Thackeray, the MNS Chief, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and the actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were also paid their tributes at her funeral.
The government said that a two-day mourning will be observed in commemoration of the legendary singing personality nationwide. The National flag will fly at half-staff for a couple of days, as a mark of homage.
Her mortal remains donned in the national flag, were kept at her residence Prabhukunj at Pedder Road, that filled completely with heavy crowd of her fans across India. Including old age people, many diehard fans were insisting on being allowed inside the residence to pay their last respects.
Then the mortal remains were taken in a truck guarded by a military police jeep, to Shivaji park for the last rites. To pay homage to the melody queen of India, thousands of people attended to the venue and waited in queue.
