A 25-year-old man Vijay Harish, the son of Veteran Tamil actor Suryakanth, who allegedly raped a college girl in Virugambakkam has been arrested by the Tiruvottiyur All-Women Police.
Vijay Harish of Anna Nagar is arrested on charges of raping a lady and then threatening her of uploading the video.
According to the police, Vijay Harish allegedly raped a 20-year-old college girl from North Chennai. They at a private college and got into a relationship. The victim made a complaint against Vijay Harish following which he got arrested.
Vijay Harish is also an aspiring actor and working for the film Naangalum Nallavangadhan. Vijay’s father Suryakanth has worked in numerous movies and was even a speaker for the AIADMK party.
The woman said that Vijay raped her earlier in January when they were in an apartment in Chennai’s Virugambakkam. It is said that Vijay Harish offered a drink to the girl which contained sedatives without her knowledge. Soon after she got unconscious, Vijay Harish raped her. The report claims that the incident occurred on 2nd January. After filming the rape act, Vijay also threatened the woman that he would leak the video on the internet.
The case has been registered under Sections 328, 354B, 354 C, 376and other sections of the Indian Penal Code and Vijay Harish was remanded to judicial custody.
