The movie revolves around the troubled relationship between Ranbir Kapoor’s Ranvijay Singh and his father Balbir Singh, played by Anil Kapoor. Bobby Deol, who plays the role of antagonist Abrar Haque in Animal. The movie is under scrutiny for its portrayal of extreme violence and has been criticized for promoting “toxic masculinity” and “misogyny”, similar to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’ previous work Kabir Singh.
