AP Assembly Speaker disqualifies 8 MLAs

Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram has disqualified 8 MLAs who changed parties in Andhra Pradesh. The Speaker took this decision after conducting an inquiry into the disqualification petitions of the MLAs in the wake of complaints from the YSRCP and TDP parties and taking the advice of legal experts. 

YCP has filed a complaint to disqualify Anam Narayan Reddy, Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, Kotam Reddy Sridhar Reddy and Undavalli Sridevi who joined YCP from TDP. TDP has filed a complaint against Maddala Giri, Karanam Balaram, Vallabhaneni Vamsi and Vasupalli Ganesh. Speaker Tammineni has disqualified 8 MLAs after the investigation was completed recently.

The Speaker, who conducted the hearings on these petitions, also sought legal advice before announcing the decision to disqualify the eight MLAs. The Speaker’s decision has become a topic of discussion when the election schedule is out. The orders were issued late on Monday night. According to TDP’s complaint, Vasupalli Ganesh, Maddala Giri, Karanam Balaram, Vallabhaneni Vamsi are disqualified. According to YCP’s complaint, Anam Narayan Reddy, Mekapati Chandrasekhara Reddy, Kotam Reddy Sridhar Reddy and Undavalli Sridevi are disqualified as MLAs.
