On Monday, the Andhra Pradesh government beseeched the Supreme Court to rescind the bail sanctioned to the TDP chief N.Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development corporation scam case. The ruling government claimed that Chandrababu’s family members forged fearsome statements to bulldoze public servants inculpated in the investigation. When all is said and done, the bench delayed the proceeding for further hearing after 3 weeks.
The Supreme Court was hearing the government’s appeal against a November 20, 2023, AP High Court order that sanctioned regular bail to Chandrababu in this case. Appearing for the state directorate, the senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi told the bench, “We brought a petition out for filing of additional documents. Chandrababu’s family members had made statements, saying when they came to power, they would take action against all these officers. My terminal devotion in the Special Leave Petition is to adjourn the bail. I am reconsidering the order of bail. I am showcasing to you a context which is germane.”
The AP government wants to bring on record an additional document, by way of the current file. The additional documents are the transcripts of two interviews presented by Nara Lokesh, the son of Chandrababu Naidu on December 19, 2023. The gratification of these interviews specifies that both Nara Lokesh and Naidu are taking measures and making statements to harass government officers and police authorities in a view to cripple the appraisal of the subject crime and other crimes wherein Naidu is concerned.”
It is stated that the transcripts of these two interviews were related to the elucidation of whether Chandrababu Naidu needs to be sanctioned bail. Rohtagi informed the bench that benefit or liberty of bail cannot be granted to those who make such alarming statements just before the Assembly polls.
