Apple has finally released the Journal app for iPhone users with the new iOS 17.2 upgrade. Although the Journal app was announced at the World Wide Developers Conference held in June this year, it is now available to end users.

Apple Worldwide Product Vice President Bob Borchers commented on the new Journal app in the company’s latest press release, saying, “We’re excited to bring the benefits of journaling to even more people. This journal makes it easy to practice gratitude by preserving rich, powerful memories and intelligently curating personal information from the iPhone to the user. We’re enabling the same personalized suggestions as other journaling apps while maintaining the highest level of privacy.”

Apple claims that the Journal app is designed with ‘privacy’ in mind. Journal app entries are encrypted after the iPhone is locked. Additionally, users can add protection in the Journal app with a password, Face ID or Touch ID. Journal entries saved in iCloud are also end-to-end encrypted. That means only users can access this data.
