With the saffron party winning 3 seats and the Congress one, the situation was reversed in Karnataka. The Congress acquired 3 Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan, but counting of votes was delayed in Maharashtra and Haryana over alleged violation of rules. The newly appointed Rajya Sabha members are Mukul Wansik, Pramod Tiwari and Randeep Surjewala, who are the Congress candidates.

A BJP cross vote is acquired by the Congress. The ex-minister Ghanshyam Tiwari from the BJP won with 43 votes. The Congress overpowered the challenge posed by BJP-backed independent candidate Subhash Chandra. As the ruling BJP won all the three Rajya Sabha seats in Karnataka, the party had the last laugh and it had contested in, out of 4 from the state.

Actor-turned-politician Jaggesh and outgoing MLC Lehar Singh Siroya from the BJP and the ex-union minister Jairam Ramesh of Congress were announced as the elected candidates by the union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In Maharashtra, counting was held up in after the opposition BJP alleged 3 MLAs of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – Cabinet ministers Jitendra Awhad (NCP) and Yashomati Thakur (Congress), besides Shiv Sena legislator Suhas Kande- violated the model code for voting.

Eknath Shinde, who is the minister of Shiv Sena in Mumbai said, “Permission is required from the Election Commission for the counting. Authorities have sent an email to the ECI seeking the permission. It should be granted in some time.”
