BJP leader Uma Bharti demanded that temples should be built in Kashi and Mathura on the same lines as those built in Ayodhya, so that Kashi and Mathura also get their due rights just like Ayodhya. She explained that because the evidence had to be excavated in Ayodhya, there was no need to excavate Kashi and Mathura.
Uma Bharati said, in 1991, she proposed in the Parliament to hand over the disputed places in Ayodhya , Mathura and Kashi to Hindus. Uma Bharti, who welcomed the verdict given by the Varanasi district court on the Gnanavapi case, recalled that in 1993, she worshiped the idols carved on the walls of Gnanavapi. Uma Bharti commented, Muslims have the right to go to court if they have any objections regarding Kashi and Mathura temples.
She said, all orders given by the court will be followed. She added, “Following the Varanasi district court verdict, I demand that temples be built at places where temples were earlier in Mathura, Kashi, like Ayodhya.”
