BRS renominates Vaddiraju Ravichandra as Rajya Sabha candidate

 BRS has finalized the name of Vaddiraju Ravichandra as the BRS Rajya Sabha candidate. BRS chief KCR announced that the decision was taken after discussing with party leaders and chiefs. Vaddiraju Ravichandra will file his nomination as a Rajya Sabha candidate today(February 15) on the orders of KCR. KCR gave Rajya Sabha opportunity to Vaddiraju for the second time in a row. Vadiraju was a member of the Rajya Sabha for two years in the first term.

Vaddiraju Ravichandra is the founder of the Gayatri Group which is into the granite and mining business and he also serves as the president of the Telangana Granite Quarry Owners Association. He left Congress party in 2019 and joined BRS. Ravichandra has been confirmed as the 2022 BRS Rajya Sabha member. The Returning Officer announced that Ravichandra was unanimously elected as one nomination was filed in this Rajya Sabha by-election.

The deadline for Rajya Sabha nominations will end today. The Election Commission will conduct elections for 56 seats in 15 states across the country. There are three vacancies from Telangana.  Badugula Lingaiah Yadav,  Joginipally Santosh Kumar  and Vaddiraju Ravichandra of Bharat Rashtra Samiti Party (BRS Party) are among those who are retiring.
