Yesterday it was announced that the Gujarati film Chhello Show– Last Film Show, is India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards- Oscars. The move was surprising for many believed that either SS Rajamouli’ magnum opus RRR or Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files would make it to the Oscars 2023 but Chhello Show made official entry for Oscars.
Nalin confessed that while he wouldn’t be able to comment on how the film edged out Rajamouli’ directorial venture RRR and The Kashmir Files, he presumes that his movie must have pleasantly surprised the jury.
When Chhello Show Director Nalin was asked about beating The Kashmir Files and RRR, he said, “I am sorry, I can’t comment on that. It’s a question to the jury which comprised seventeen people. It was a unanimous choice. The Jury members had seen the other films which the media was talking about since 2 days, as India’s Oscar entry, The Kashmir Files, RRR and Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi.”
On the otherside, it is being heard that there is still a chance for RRR to make it to the Oscars. Though the Indian government snubbed it, Variance Films, which distributed RRR in USA is trying hard to submit Rajamouli’ magnum opus to the Oscars in several categories.
