CM Revanth Reddy orders probe against agency running Dharani Portal

On Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to conduct a comprehensive probe into the role of a private agency managing the Dharani portal, launched for land transactions by the previous BRS government.

Revanth Reddy also directed the officials to make arrangements to solve pending 2.45 lakh complaints and cases against the Dharani portal in the first week of March itself.

CM Revanth Reddy expressed serious concern on the safety of the land records of the farmers which are in the hands of the foreign companies. He blamed the Dharani portal for keeping the highly confidential land data, Aadhaar and bank account details with it and also raised doubts whether the data of land records is safe.

At a review meeting with Dharani committee members and senior officials, Revanth Reddy said the committee should ensure that discrepancies noticed in the existing Dharani system were not repeated.

Revanth Reddy questioned the officials about handing over the maintenance of the Dharani portal to a private agency in place of CCLA which is supposed to handle the portal on behalf of the state government.

Revanth Reddy said that it was astonishing that the company, which had won the Dharani tender for Rs 116 crs in the year 2018, sold the shares for around Rs 1,200 cr. CM expressed doubts about a change of the names of the ownership of costly lands as the agency possessed all the land records.

Revanth Reddy instructed the officials to resolve the pending applications in Dharani immediately.
