Police arrested a Congress MLA in a drugs case on Thursday. Congress MLA Sukh Pal Singh Khaira has been arrested by the Punjab Police in an old drug case under the jurisdiction of Jalalabad Police Station in the state of Punjab. When the police raided MLA Singh’s house, he went live on Facebook. He was arrested by the police who raided his house in Sector 5 of Chandigarh city in the early hours of Thursday in a narcotic drugs case.
A family member of MLA Singh took a video during his arrest. In which case are you arrested? The MLA asked the police whether there was a warrant. Jalalabad DSP Ram Sharma said that the arrest is being made in a narcotic case. MLA Singh alleged that her arrest in the Supreme Court quashed case was politically motivated. During the arrest, the MLA got into an argument with the police.
Sukh Pal Singh, MLA of Bholath Assembly Constituency, also serves as Chairman of All India Kisan Congress. In the year 2015, the police registered a drug case in Fazilka. There are 9 accused in this case along with the MLA. Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa condemned the MLA’s arrest. Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh said that it was a ploy by the Punjab government to divert people from the main issues.
