Story: D Company is all about Dawood Ibrahim’ journey (Ashwat Kanth) from a small time goon to a local don in Mumbai. How does he become the underworld don and what circumstances forced him to do so, form the story.

Plus Points:

  • Cinematography
  • Casting

Minus Points:

  • Dubbing
  • Story
  • Cuss words
  • Direction

Performance: Ashwath Kanth who plays the role of Dawood Ibrahim delivers a terrific performance. His body language and performance is appreciable and this credit goes to one and one only Ram Gopal Varma aka RGV. Naina Ganguly and Ira Mor in the roles of Dawood and Sabir’s lovers make their presence felt  but get limited screen space.  Apsara Rani’ special song is highlighted. The rest of the cast of D Company justifies with their roles.

Technical:  There is nothing special in the story and all the scenes were shown by Ram Gopal Varma in his earlier gangster films with different names. The Cinematography by V  Malharbhat Joshi is fantastic, he captured each frame interestingly. Editing by Sanga Pratap Kumar is ok. Action sequences are realistic. The dubbing is very poor.   The movie starts with the voiceover of RGV telling us how Mumbai in the 1980s was infested with various mafia gangs .The movie D Company has too much voice-over. All the scenes of gang wars are routine.

Analysis: RGV tries to show that Dawood is an intelligent criminal who used his brain to create an underworld enterprise.
