 The swearing in of newly won MLAs in Telangana has been completed. On December 9th, the assembly sessions started, the protem speaker administered the oath to the new members. After this program,  the meeting was adjourned to 14th December. On the other hand, an announcement will be made regarding the election of the new Speaker.

The notification regarding the election of the Speaker will come on 13th December. Nominations will be received on the same day. When the House starts on 14th, the pro tem Speaker will announce the election of the Speaker. The Congress high command has already finalized the name of Vikarabad MLA Gaddam Prasad for this post.  His election is going to be unanimous as the opposition does not have enough strength. With this, the election of Prasad as Speaker will be formalized on the 14th.

Gaddam Prasad Kumar also worked as a minister in the past. He was born in Vikarabad district. He completed Intermediate in 1984 from Government Junior College, Tandur. In the 2008 by-election, he contested as a candidate of the Congress party and won against his nearest rival B. Sanjeeva Rao, a candidate of the Telugu Desam Party, and was elected as an MLA for the first time in the Assembly. In the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, he contested as a candidate of the Congress party and won the MLA for the second time, defeating his nearest rival A. Chandrasekhar Pai (TRS) with a majority of 4,859 votes.
