Famous screenwriter, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar said that the audience should decide what kind of movies to come out. He made sensational comments indirectly referring to the recent blockbuster movie Animal in which Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna played the lead role and it was helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy fame. He said that it is risky for such films to register huge success. Citing a scene from the movie Animal as an example, Javed Akhtar said that despite scenes like the hero asking the heroine to lick her shoes to prove the love, slapping women, etc., the movie became a super duper hit and such movies are dangerous.
Javed Akhtar is of the opinion that in the current situation, the audience who support the films have more responsibility than the producers. He explained that the kind of movies that the producers want to make depends on the audience and they make movies based on the audience’s popularity. He said it is in the hands of the audience whether to observe the values and morals shown in the movies and support them or reject them.
Javed Akhtar said that currently the film writers are facing a complicated situation and they are deciding what kind of hero to put on the screen. Akhtar reminded that in the past, rich people were shown as bad and poor people as good people in movies. He stated that poor people are also becoming rich in the changed circumstances, so there is no need to portray the rich as a bad.
