From MGR to Vijay, Tamil Movie Stars who made foray into Politics

In the entire country, film politics was more in Tamil Nadu state. Cinema people have been influencing the state the most. Not only that, Tamil Nadu has been ruled as Chief Minister for the longest time by film stars. 

Recently Tamil star hero Vijay Thalapathy announced the party. He announced that he is going to enter Tamil politics. Vijay announced a party named  Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam.  He is going to be active in politics soon.

Before Vijay, cinema was not new to politics in Tamil Nadu.  Ever since the regional parties started ruling Tamil Nadu by taking power from the Congress party, the film industry has been influencing Tamil politics. MGR, who started his career in Congress, later joined the DMK party.

Jayalalithaa, who has done more than 30 films with MGR, joined AIADMK, worked with MGR and became a key leader. She won everyone’s hearts with her work.  She was known as Amma by the Tamil people. She perpetuated her mark of rule as Chief Minister. She died of illness while being Chief Minister. 

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is currently considered as the idol actor of Tamil, announced the party. He also announced that he was going to enter politics but he withdrew due to illness. Kamal Haasan established a party named Makkal Needhi Maiam and is currently active. 

Tamil star hero VijayKanth also founded the ADMK party in 2005. Vijay Kanth, who had a huge following among the people, won some seats but could not become the Chief Minister.  Vijay Kanth passed away due to illness on December 28 last year. 

There is another hero Sarath Kumar in Tamil Nadu politics. He also founded a party named All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi. But he also could not become the Chief Minister.
