Counting of the votes has started in the Gajwel assembly constituency much like the rest of the state. Telangana CM is facing an uphill battle in bastion where he will face a former aide turned rival from BJP Etela Rajender.
Gajwel is one of the two constituencies where Chief Minister KCR is contesting. Gajwel is a prominent constituency which is being debated in the elections this time. It was earlier in Medak Lok Sabha constituency. In Gajwel, Mandals named Gajwel, Thupran, Kondapaka, Wargal, Mulugu, Jagadev are under this constituency. Since 2014, CM KCR has won two consecutive MLAs from here. This time, Etela Rajender from BJP and Tumukunta Narsa Reddy from Congress are contesting with Chief Minister KCR from Gajwel. After three rounds, KCR is leading in this constituency.
As there are 48 candidates in the race in Gajwel, it is informed that the results will be clear by night.
For Assembly Elections 2023, BJP- Bharitya Janatha Party has nominated former minister Etela Rajender, and Congress has fielded Thumkunta Narsa Reddy against KCR.
In 2018, KCR won Gajwel by over 58,000 votes, defeating Congress’ Vanteru Pratap Reddy.
