Good news for Indians:  Raja Krishnamurthy introduces bill to double H-1B visas in US Parliament

There is a good news for Indians. US lawmakers have introduced a bill proposing to double the number of H-1B visas currently being issued. Indian-origin Democratic member Raja Krishnamurthy introduced the bill last Friday. The US currently issues 65,000 H-1B visas per year and plans to increase them to 1.30 lakh. If this bill is passed, it will benefit Indians more.

On this occasion, Krishnamurthy stated that the increase in visas will directly benefit American companies. He described this bill as ‘hire act’. He expressed hope that this will make it easier for American companies to get the workers they need. He stated that we need to be ahead in technology by getting the best talent from around the world.

Krishnamoorthi said that the expansion of the H-1B visa programme will help American companies get workers for direly needed positions. Krishnamoorthi is calling the legislation HIRE Act, short for High Skilled Immigration Reform for the employment.

Krishnamoorthi added:  I am proud to introduce the HIRE Act to increase the  investments in elementary and secondary school STEM education while doubling the number of available H-1B visas from 65,000 to 130,000.

Meanwhile, he explained, it seeks to overcome the shortage of skilled workers in America by funding STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Maths) streams in schools.
