Google discriminated against a female employee. As a result, a heavy price had to be paid. The court there ordered the female employee to pay 1.1 million dollars as compensation (about Rs. 9 crores). Google Cloud Engineering Director Ulku Rowe approached the court. She has taken to the court alleging that male employees who are junior to her and have less experience are being given equal responsibilities and paying them higher wages. She also alleged that Google denied her promotions because she complained.

A New York jury ordered Google to pay compensation for the loss and suffering she suffered. The court said that Ulku Rowe’ allegations against Google are true.

Discrimination and retaliation are not allowed in the workplace. The jury found Google guilty of gender discrimination. Accordingly, orders were given in favor of payment of compensation.
