The Climate change is one of the biggest global problems and almost every country is affected by this. The main cause of climate change is the emission of greenhouse gases such as CO2, burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and industrialization. The concentration of CO2 has increased mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels like oil and coal. The average temperature of the earth has risen by more than 1° Celsius as compared to the pre-industrial era, 2016 being the warmest year recorded. According to the latest report, Iran’ Persian Gulf International Airport experienced record breaking heat on Sunday and it is due to the combination of abundant atmospheric moisture and extremely high temperature that created a heat index.
According to Colin McCarthy from US Stormwatch, Persian Gulf International Airport in Iran reported a heat index of 152°F (66.7 Degrees Celsius) on Sunday at 12:30 pm, which is intolerable conditions for human and animal life.
Meteorologists take air temperature and other factors into account to predict how hot and cold the weather is and the heat index is the most important of those methods. Heat is estimated based on the humidity and temperature in the air.
At the time McCarthy mentioned, the temperature at Persian Gulf International Airport reached 40 °C. The temperature was recorded at 66.7°C with a relative humidity of 65 percent.
Dr Akshay Deoras, from the University of Reading’s meteorology department, said that Earth will become an inferno if the heat waves don’t spur on governments to tackle global warming.
