Heeralal Samariya from Rajasthan has become the country’s first Dalit Chief Information Commissioner. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Information Commissioner Heeralal Samariya as the Chief Information Commissioner at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Heeralal Samariya was currently serving as the Information Commissioner. He has also worked as Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Now he has been made the Chief Information Commissioner. Along with him, two other Information Commissioners will also be appointed. Anandi Ramalingam and VK Tiwari will be made Information Commissioners.
Heeralal Samariya is the first Dalit CIC of the country. He was born in Pahari, a remote and small village in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer. Heeralal Samariya was administered the oath of office as Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today at 10 am.
Heeralal Samariya was sworn in as Chief of Central Information Commission by President Droupadi Murmu.
