In the case of Kapu reservations in Andhra Pradesh, the High Court suggested that it is better to put pressure on the government in other ways than filing cases in court. It is believed that there may be delay due to court disputes.
AP High Court made key comments on a petition filed to direct the state government to implement 5% reservation for Kapus out of the 10% quota allotted to economically backward classes. It advised the petitioners to withdraw such suits and put pressure on the government in other ways.
The implementation of reservation is a sensitive matter and there is a possibility that the government may delay the implementation of reservation as a whole due to the pending cases in the court. The bench said that it is expected that the government will take a decision in this matter at the right time.
In addition to the petitions filed to implement reservation for Kapus, it was said that there is a need for in-depth investigation in the lawsuits filed against reservation. It directed the government to make counter-affidavits in this case. A bench comprising Chief Justice Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice N. Jayasuriya ordered the government and the petitioners.
High court posted the matter for further hearing after summer vacation.
