In the second ODI between India and West Indies in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, which was only his fifth game in one day internationals, Suryakumar Yadav added a rare record to his name. He scored a valuable half-century, scoring 64 off 83 balls hitting 5 boundaries In the second ODI against West Indies.

His innings made him make a unique record of scoring over 30 runs in  the 6  consecutive ODIs.  The moment he entered 30, Suryakumar Yadav  created a unique world record. With scores of 31, 53, 40, 39, 34 and 64 yesterday, Suryakumar Yadav became the first batsman  in the world to register a 30-plus score in all his first six ODIs. Ryan ten Doeschate of South Africa, Tom Cooper of the Netherlands and Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman all did so in their first five innings, but none.

In Lanka, Suryakumar Yadav had scored at 122-plus. In the one-off game in the South Africa, he was still scoring at 121. This series has presented a different challenge in that Suryakumar Yadav  has played an anchoring role at number 5. And Suryakumar has the attributes to succeed in this role.

The final ODI will be played on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium.  India head into contest on the back of a six wicket win that gave them a 1-0 series lead. A win in Game 2 will see them win the three game ODI series.
