Senior JDU – Janata Dal-United leader Kailash Mahato from Bihar was shot multiple times in his stomach and head near his home. As per media reports, the leader Kailash was shot dead due to mutual enmity over land.
He was shot dead by unidentified assailants on a two-wheeler in the wee hours of Thursday. The incident took place near his house under Barari police station in Katihar district.
The assailants fired several times at 70-year-old Kailash from close range. Bullets penetrated his stomach and head. Land dispute seems to be the cause of this incident. A few days ago, Kailash revealed to the authorities that there was a threat to his life and to provide security.
Katihar SDPO Om Prakash said that a case has been registered for the murder of Kailash and the accused will be arrested soon. It is said that the accused fired four or five rounds at him. Further details can only be given after the post-mortem.
JDU Leader Kailash Mahto was a resident of Ward No. 12 of Purbi Bari Nagar Panchayat in the Barari Thana area.
