The film maker Abhiroop Basu has called Kantara – a poorly made, loud, replete with tropes film. The film has been helmed by Rishab Shetty who also played the lead role.
Abhiroop Basu has shared his frank opinion about Risbah Shetty’ film Kantara, the latest blockbuster from the Kannada film industry. In an interview, he said that the film Kantara is regressive and laughable.
He said, “I feel it’s a mockery of anyone’s intelligence. Poorly made, regressive, replete with tropes, loud, no real character to root for, so called plot twists appear dishonest and merely serve as gimmicks, the protagonist’s redemption arc is laughable and by the time the movie reaches the much talked about climax, I am not really interested anymore.”
The movie follows a Kambala champion, played by Rishab Shetty , who comes to loggerheads with an upright Forest officer, Murali. The movie also has Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty and Sapthami Gowda in the important roles.
Number of top stars such as Rajinikanth, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Agnihotri have showered praises on Kantara. But film maker Abhiroop Basu criticizes this film. Kantara has already crossed Rs 200 crore barrier in terms of gross worldwide collections. It cbecame a pan-India success in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
