Karnataka Politics: Siddaramaiah as Karnataka CM, DK Shivakumar as Deputy

It seems that the impasse on the post of Karnataka CM has been resolved.  DK Shivakumar has accepted the post of Deputy CM. With this, the line has been cleared for Siddaramaiah to take oath as CM.

After four days of debate, reports are coming out that the Congress leadership has finally come to a decision on who should be the Chief Minister of Karnataka. It seems that the Hastam party leadership has decided that the senior leader Siddaramaiah, who worked as the CM in the past, will be the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge held discussions on this matter on Wednesday night as well. It seems that a consensus has been reached in the end. Although there was a strong campaign that the Congress leadership would make an announcement on this matter on Wednesday itself, it did not happen as Shivakumar did not relent. However, it seems that Sivakumar has agreed to send the CM’s seat with the discussions of the senior leaders. That means Siddaramaiah will be the CM for the first two and a half years. After that Shivakumar will take over the reins of CM. It seems that DK Shivakumar relented only after talking to senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. The Congress party, which won the Karnataka assembly elections held this month, is finally preparing to form the government.

Siddaramaiah will take oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on 20th of this month and this event will be held in Bangalore.
