A gas leakage incident took place in Konaseema district. The reason for this is the leak of the ONGC(Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) gas pipeline at the Aqua Pond in Sivakoti, Rajolu Mandal. A huge broke out due to gas leakage from the bore well. It seems that a farmer from Sivakodu was digging a well for an aqua pond and damaged the underground ONGC pipelines, which caused the gas leak. The ONGC staff who received the information, are trying to bring the fire under control. ONGC officials are investigating the cause of gas coming from the well.
The villagers breathed a sigh of relief as they were away from residential areas.
Konaseema district is known for its abundant gas deposits. It attracts the oil companies to explore various areas and extract the resources before closing operations. However, gas resurgences in sealed locations have been observed in the past, and this incident appears to be a recent occurrence.
