Kosgi Polytechnic College: First government engineering college in CM Revanth Reddy constituency

The first government engineering college in Telangana is going to be established in Kodangal, the constituency of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The government has decided to convert the Kosgi Government Polytechnic College into an engineering college. On Monday Chief Secretary of the Education Department, Burra Venkatesham, issued an order to upgrade the college. Classes will be started here from the next academic year (2024-25). Commissioner of Technical Education has been ordered to take action accordingly. The government has decided to start BTech CSE, CSE (AI and MML) and CSE (Data Science) courses in this college in total 180 seats.

At present all engineering colleges are running under the auspices of universities. Kosgi College is functioning under the State Technical Education Department. The technical department looks after all the affairs like infrastructure, teaching, recruitment of teaching staff and salaries. However, Kosgi Engineering College will continue to be affiliated to JNTU as colleges should be affiliated to any universities for designing syllabus, conducting examinations and issuing certificates. The existing polytechnic courses will continue as they are, despite the upgrade to an engineering college.

Kosgi Polytechnic College was opened in 2014 on five acres. It has Civil, Mechanical and ECE branches. In addition to these, BTech branches will be established.
