KTR: Farmers’ income can’t be doubled by dialogues, empty promises

Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi BRS Working President, Minister KTR once again made harsh comments targeting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to the promises made by Prime Minister Modi in the past, he said that it is not possible to double the income of farmers with dialogues and jumlas. Explaining the development achieved by Telangana in 10 years, he gave a presentation titled ‘Trailblazer Telangana’. Despite the problems, the state has achieved great growth over the decade and now has the highest per capita income in the country, he said.

He also highlighted that Telangana is one of the fastest growing states in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). “The Prime Minister is talking about doubling farmers’ income. Farmers’ income cannot be doubled with just dialogues. Farmers’ income cannot be doubled with jumlas (air promises). To double farmers’ income, agriculture and allied sectors should also be supported. This is exactly what Telangana state has done,” he said. KCR has built Kaleshwaram and other irrigation projects at a cost of Rs 1.70 lakh crore with the aim of overcoming drought in the state of Telangana and said that he has succeeded in that aim.
