Mahanati – the biopic of legendary South actress Savitri, helmed by Nag Ashwin, and produced by Vyjayanthi movie, starring Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Deverakonda, was released on 9th May, has earned Rs 33.63 Cr Shares at worldwide box office after the successful run of 15 days.

Mahanati, revolves around the life and times of Savitri who was a popular actress in Telugu and Tamil cinema in the 50s and 60s, carries a caveat right at the beginning.
Keerthy Suresh received lot of applause for her role as she played Savitri. Dulquer Salmaan, the son of Malayalam Megastar Mammootty, essayed the character of Gemini Ganesan, the husband of Savitri.
Mahanati has reportedly been made with a budget of Rs 25 crore. The movie has been a massive success at the USA box office, where its collection is much more than its earnings in Nizam. The Nirvana Cinemas, who have distributed the film in the US, are holding free screening of this biopic for the viewers above the age of 55 years on Saturday (26th May) as a token of respect to elders.
It’s Tamil version is titled as Nadigaiyar Thilagam. Apart from Mahanati, the other South movies which have crossed the $2 million mark at the US box office include SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali:The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Rangasthalam, Bharat Ane Nenu, Srimanthudu, A..Aa, Khaidi No 150, Nananku Prematho, Agnyaathavaasi and Fidaa.
