There is still suspense about who will be the Chief Minister of Telangana state. As the Congress party got a clear majority in Telangana, there were reports that CM would be sworn in on Monday night. Although there was a campaign that Revanth Reddy would take charge of the Chief Minister, the selection of CM was postponed as senior party leaders Bhatti, Uttam and Komati Reddy were also competing for the post.
On Monday morning Congress legislature party in Telangana met and authorised party president Mallikarjun Kharge to appoint the new leader of the House, who will be CM of Telangana.
Mallikarjun Kharge said that after looking into the report of the party observers sent to Telangana and discussing with several senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi the name of the Chief Minister will be announced. Meanwhile, Bhatti Vikramarka and Uttam Kumar Reddy, who are competing for the post of Chief Minister, reached Delhi on Monday evening.
Swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Congress govt in Telangana was delayed on Monday due to the lack of consensus among the party’s 64 MLAs on the choice for CM.
The sources say that the tentative date for the Swearing-in ceremony of the new Telangana CM is Thursday.
