One of the main pillars of Tollywood, Megastar Chiranjeevi has acquired the Indian Film Personality of the Year 2022 award at International Film Festival of India 2022. The 53rd edition of the festival opened on a grand note on Sunday evening in Goa. The event will progress till the 28th of this month. The award is a recognition for the actor’s contribution to cinema, popular culture and socially significant work.
The news was announced by Indian minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur on Twitter. His tweet reads, “INDIAN FILM PERSONALITY @IFFIGOA
Shri Chiranjeevi ji has had an illustrious career spanning almost four decades, worked for over 150 films as an actor, dancer and producer. He is immensely popular in Telugu cinema. His incredible performances touching hearts! Congratulations Chiranjeevi Konidela.”
Chiranjeevi has acted in more than 150 films in Telugu. He also worked in other languages like Hindi, Kannada and Tamil. His career reached to a high level with his 1982 film Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya and later, he was named as Megastar in the Telugu Film Industry. In 2006, he received Padma Bhushan award, which is the third highest civilian award in India. Chiru also served as the minister of tourism for the Indian government for a period of 2010-12.
IFFI 2022 event was graced by biggies like Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee, Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Vijayendra Prasad as the special guests and the show was hosted by actor Aparshakthi Khurana. A total of 282 films from 79 countries are set to be screened this year and 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films from India will be showcased in the Indian Panorama section.
