The central government has announced in the parliament that after the bifurcation of the state, the central government will collect the electricity bills supplied to Telangana from AP. Union Power Minister RK Singh answered the question asked by MP Vijayasai Reddy.
Union Power Minister RK Singh said that the Telangana government has to pay more than Rs 6 thousand crore dues for the electricity supplied by the Andhra Pradesh government after the separation of the state.
It has been revealed that the Telangana government is not paying the dues even though the center has ordered them to be paid without fail, so they are trying to deduct this amount from the account of that state in the RBI and pay it to Andhra Pradesh.
BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao and Vaikapa member Vijayasai Reddy answered the questions during Rajya Sabha question and answer session. The Union Minister said that he has already spoken to the Law Department on the issue of issuing instructions to the RBI to deduct the amount due to AP from Telangana’s account and pay it to Andhra Pradesh.
The Union Minister announced that he is now discussing this issue with the Finance Department as it is the Central Government’s responsibility and will definitely resolve it. He explained that Telangana has already decided how much to pay. RK Singh made it clear that a decision has been reached at the level of the Union Power Department and officials of the two states.
After the bifurcation of the state, the Telangana government owes more than 6 thousand crore rupees under the electricity charges supplied by Andhra Pradesh as per the orders of the central government. Telangana government has been delaying payment of dues to AP for years.
