Narendra Modi to initiate Bharat Mart in UAE

With an aim to install a warehousing facility for Indian MSMEs to trade in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to establish an allied platform, Bharat Mart in the UAE. The platform provides a wide variety of products for Indian exporters all-around. But Modi has to determine its hypothesis. Bharat Mart resembles Dragon Mart, located in China.

Reportedly, Bharat Mart will be constructed in an area above 1,00,000 square meters. It is expected to begin its functioning in 2025. It will serve as a global destination catering to different commercial needs and activities. The exclusive mart will possess retail showrooms, offices, warehouses and supporting amenities to cater to heterogeneous categories of goods, stretching across heavy machinery to decomposable items.

In the UAE, Bharat Mart will be erected at the location of the Jebel Ali Free Zone, overseen by DP World. In a plan to allow global buyers to produce goods from the facility at an ease, the mart will be sophisticated with the concept of a digital platform. The purpose of initiating Bharat Mart is to double the non-petroleum trade target of India and the UAE TO $100 billion by 2030, as a component of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Chief Operating Officer, Parks and Zones, DP World GCC Abdulla AI Hashmi said, “Bharat Mart is assured to turn as a mega-distribution hub to aid the exports of made-in-India products to the world,”  Currently, Modi is holding talks with the President and the Vice President of UAE to formulate a schedule for laying a foundation stone for India Mart.
