 For the past four years in Andhra Pradesh, there has been a heated debate between YCP and TDP. When the YCP government came to power, it announced a white paper on the debts incurred by the previous five-year TDP government. TDP is also targeting the debts of YCP government. While YCP and TDP are revealing their calculations, the actual calculations are not coming out. The Center has recently clarified this in the Parliament.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman revealed in reply to a question in Parliament about the debts incurred during the previous TDP government in AP, as well as the debts incurred during the current four-year regime of YSP. Nirmala Sitharaman gave these details in response to a question asked by Telangana’s Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao in the Lok Sabha. Nirmala has given clear clarity on how many debts there are as of March 2019 and how many debts have been reached by March 2023 along with the debt taken by various corporations.

Nirmala Sitharaman revealed in the Parliament that the debts of the Andhra Pradesh government have reached Rs 4.42 lakh crores. Telangana state’s debt is Rs 3,66,306 crores. 

When the five-year rule of Chandrababu Naidu was almost completed, Nirmala Sitharaman said that AP’s debt was Rs 2,64,451 crore. Also, by March 2023, when the YSRCP government will complete its four-year rule, Nirmala revealed that this amount has reached Rs 4,42,442 crores. It is concluded that during the four years of YCP’s rule, only about Rs 1.77 lakh crores of debt was incurred. As a result, the accusations made by the opposition TDP all these years about 4 lakh crores have been proved wrong.
