The former president of Congress party, Rahul Gandhi is off to Europe on a personal visit. Actually, he has to return by the weekend, which will allow him to vote in the presidential election which is going to take place on July 18. Additionally, he has to attend the approaching Monsoon session of Parliament on the same day.
However, the Congress has to chair a meeting tomorrow to draw up plans for a ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ (Unite India Campaign) which will begin on October 2nd. This will be presided over by his mother Sonia Gandhi, who is the president of the Congress party.
Mr Rahul Gandhi has often been denounced by the BJP for his frequent visits abroad. To question the leadership skills of Rahul Gandhi and his intention to take up a national role in reviving his party after a series of electoral debacles in various states, all this has led the Congress’ political rivals.
Rahul Gandhi was abroad last month as well, and it is the reason behind the delay of Rajya Sabha nominations. As he was travelling outside the country, he should delay his questioning by the Enforcement Directorate.
