Police attempt to arrest former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan has led to tension in Lahore. There was chaos in front of Imran Khan’ house. The agitation started with a video message released by Imran Khan addressing fans, party workers and people.
In the video message, Imran Khan stated that the police were standing in front of the house to arrest him and that they would kill him in the name of arrest.
Lahor Police planned to serve former PM Imran Khan with a warrant to appear in court later this week. They fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd at the house as the 71 years old opposition leader’s supporters hurled rocks and bricks at officers. After ten hours of clashes, Lahore police were no closer to arresting the former leader Imran Khan and they moved back.
Why was Imran Khan arrested?- The court has issued a non-bailable warrant against former Prime Minister Imran in the Toshakhana case. He is accused of not handing over the gifts he received during his tenure as PM to Toshakhana. He kept many valuable gifts.. It is reported that this matter came out when he tried to sell a watch. A case has been registered against Imran Khan in this regard. He ignored the court’s two notices to attend the trial.
