PIL filed for extending Hyderabad as joint capital for another Decade

PIL has been filed in AP High Court seeking to continue Hyderabad as the joint capital of AP and Telangana for another 10 years. The lawsuit was filed by Podili Anilkumar, secretary of Praja Sankshema Seva Sangam of Ibrahimpatnam, NTR district. Union Home Secretary, APCS, Special Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Secretary Finance Department and Secretary General Administration Department have been named as defendants in the lawsuit.

He said that although the 10-year deadline for declaring Hyderabad as the joint capital ends on June 2, some issues between the two states are still not resolved as per the AP Partition Act-2014. It has been stated that the process of separation of assets, liabilities and various companies and corporations mentioned in the ninth Schedule has not been completed. Therefore, the APC should be directed to take steps to request the Center to keep Hyderabad as the joint capital till June 2, 2034. The Central Home Department’s non-implementation of the provisions of the Partition Act should be declared unconstitutional and illegal.

PIL stated that due to the unscientific policy of the central government, even after ten years of state bifurcation, AP has no capital. Due to the failure of the central government, the division of assets and debts between the two states has led to disputes.
