PM Modi chaired BJP meet to decide 1st list of LS candidates

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting at the party’s headquarters on Thursday at 10.30 pm and it ended today in the early morning hours. The purpose of the meeting is to set the seal on the first list of Lok Sabha candidates for the upcoming elections. The meeting took the attendance of veteran leaders too.

As the ruling party seeks to name it’s candidates for a considerable number of the 543 Lok Sabha seats prior to the announcement of election schedule, the president of BJP, JP Nadda and Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh were among those who graced the meeting.

When candidates for constituencies allotted in their respective states are discussed, state leaders graced the CEC meeting. Union ministers like Bhupender Yadav, Dharmendra Pradhan and Mansukh Mandaviya are expected to be fielded in the general elections, prior to the party’s decision of not providing them another Rajya Sabha term at the time of biennial elections to it.

To decide the list of possibilities, Amit Shah and Nadda held consecutive meetings with its leaders from states, before the final meet chaired by the Central Election Committee. The elections are likely to take place in April-May.
