BJP national general secretary and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar have been involved in a war of words, with the duel spilling onto between party cadre as well.
On Tuesday, Bandi Sanjay Kumar challenged Ponnam Prabhakar and said that if he lost the upcoming Karimnagar Lok Sabha elections, he would quit politics and dared Ponnam Prabhakar to declare the same.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar denied that he had made any derogatory remarks against Ponnam Prabhakar’s mother during his Prajahitha padayatra in Koheda of Siddipet Assembly segment on Monday.
Speaking at a roadside meeting in Husnabad on the second day of his padayatra, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, “I offer padabhivandanam to Mr Prabhakar’s mother and i did not utter a single word against her in my speech.”
Alleging that Bandi Sanjay had insulted Minister Ponnam’s mother, tension arose when Congress leaders tried to stop him at Bommanapally in Chigurumamidi mandal of Karimnagar district. An atmosphere of high tension ensued as some Congress leaders pelted stones at the Yatra. A large number of police were deployed and security was maintained to prevent any untoward incident during the padayatra.
