The film Ponniyin Selvan is based on the popular Tamil literary novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The movie features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi and Jayam Ravi in lead roles whereas versatile actor Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Lal Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Vikram Prabhu in supporting roles. Composer AR Rahman scored the tunes. Now according to the latest update, the movie Ponniyin Selvan 1 has crossed 5 Million marks at the USA box office.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 is the Second Kollywood movie to achieve this feat in North America. It will gain the 1 position by this weekend’s of Kollywood Highest grosser.
Mnai Ratnam’ magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 released in theatres worldwide on 30th September in five languages Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The period film had done a business of Rs 318 crore gross worldwide in six days. The latest achievement of the film Ponniyin Selvan 1 is that it has gone past the break-even figure in Telugu states and is already a success. Well, this is really good news for the film makers and distributors.
