Ponniyin Selvan 1 box office collections: Ponniyin Selvan 1 , helmed by Mani Ratnam, completed its day 17 in theatres yesterday. The movie has become the highest-grossing Tamil film at the worldwide box office for 2022. Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil starrer Vikram was holding the top position since the month of June but PS 1 dethroned it yesterday. According to the traders report, Ponniyin Selvan has earned Rs 200 Cr from the box office of Tamil Nadu and it has become the first ever film in the history of Kollywood to achieve this gigantic feat.

Ponniyin Selvan 1 is billed as a pan-India movie. The story, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical fiction by the same name, unfolds in early years of the Chola dynasty of 10th century CE. The epic period drama arrived in theatres on 30th September in five Indian languages- Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. And it is creating history at the box office.
