Olympics bronze medallist, Badminton Star Saina Nehwal has joined the BJP – Bharitya Janatha Party. The Haryana born star Saina Nehwal is a significant acquisition for the saffron party just days ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi. She hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an “inspiration” with his “hard work” for the country. Saina Nehwal is one of the most popular sportspersons in India with a huge fan following and brand value.
After wearing the BJP scarf, Saina Nehwal said, “I have several won medals for the country. I am a very hardworking person and I love hardworking persons. I can see Prime Minister Narendra Modi does so much for the country, I want to do something for our country with him.”
BJP general secretary Arun Singh said to the reporters that Saina Nehwal has brought glory to the country with her 24 international titles, including gold in the Commonwealth Games, and the people of India are proud of her.
Along with Saina Nehwal, her elder sister Chandranshu Nehwal has also joined the BJP. Last year a number of sportspersons including Gautam Gambhir and Babita Phogat had joined Bharitya Janatha Party and now this time Saina Nehwal.
The popular badminton star Saina Nehwal has been honored with awards like the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award. Saina is preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
